Photography has been a love of mine since middle school when I picked up my first Canon film camera. Finally, after so many years, I've decided to put this creative skill to work and use it to take care of people! But you already know I'm a photographer so let's get to the other stuff!
I'm a Wyoming native, but recently moved to El Paso, Texas with my hubby and our toy fox terrier Bonnie! I'm a sci-fi nerd, love to bake sourdough, and if its a nice day you'll most likely find me outside.

Pizza - my three go to's are Pepperoni & Banana Pepper, Buffalo Chicken, Nashville Hot Chicken

Some people are blessed with knowing exactly what they want to do with their life straight out of high school! That definitely wasn't me!
At the wise old age of 17, I headed out to Kirkland, Washington to get my Bachelor's degree in Biblical Literature. (I secretly wanted to be Indian Jones, or Lara Croft Tomb Raider lol, but unfortunately there is no B.A. for being a BA.) I did sneak in one intro to photography class during my undergrad studies, toted my film camera everywhere, and taped hundreds of the photos I took all over my dorm closet doors.
I went straight on from my B.A. to get my Master's in Theology. I really loved translating the Ancient Biblical Greek and Hebrew and dreamt of being Evelyn O'Connell from The Mummy! "No harm ever came from reading a book!"
As many. people with degrees often do, I went straight from my Master's degree to bartending lol. (I was a barista at Starbucks through college - same idea - just different beverages of choice.)
Shortly after this, I was reunited with my high school sweet heart, and I soon became a military wife. Ten years later I have built and sold my own furniture, tried to be a medical biller and coder, started a recipe blog, Now From Scratch, and did hair as a cosmetologist for 5 years!
All this time I continued to take photos. Photography has been a constant all throughout my crazy journeys of finding my passion and purpose.
All of the things I did led me to right here, right now. Every thing I've been, a scholar, a barista, a cosmetologist, they've all contributed skills that make me a better photographer!
Rascal Flatts has a song lyric, "I set out on a narrow way many years ago. Hoping I would find true love along the broken road. But I got lost a time or two, wiped my brow kept pushing through. I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you!"
Obviously, written about a lady not a camera lol, but I feel this! I've finally found my true love in photography.
Sometimes you gotta know who you aren't to find out who you are!
That's how Austin Claire Photography came to be
When I'm not working - you'll find me hanging out with these two! Jake and I have been married for 10 years now, but we've known each other since 5th grade. I'm convinced he is the only one in this world crazy enough to put up with all of my shenanigans. Not to mention, his weird matches mine. We are best friends and soulmates.
Bonnie (short for Bonneville Coupe because of the V-star on her forehead) came into our lives 4 years ago. She is oxytocin incarnate. One snuggle and sniff of her cute little puppy head will cure any and all sadness.
We grew up camping, fishing, and spending as much time outside as possible. Not much has changed as adults. We love our fire pit and kayaking. For our ten year anniversary trip this last spring, we took Bonnie and drove all the way out to the Grand Canyon. I'm not going say waking up in 5° weather with ice on my sleeping bag was super romantic lol, but walking up to the edge and seeing the Grand Canyon covered in snow, it's a memory of a lifetime! We also trekked through a couple of slot canyons which was on my bucket list! They were terrifyingly narrow and beautiful, other-worldly really!
Last year, we sold our 2500 sq. ft. house and moved into a 600 sq. ft. tiny cabin that we updated and beautified. It's been an adventure all of its own lol. Honestly, have really enjoyed tiny living!
At the beginning of July we moved to El Paso, Texas for my husbands job. We are settling in and enjoying this new desert life!
Our future plans include someday building a Barndominium on our acreage out in Wyoming!
